Sum up activity: In teams, make a poster explaining how the following geologic events, that occur at the boundaries between the tectonic plates, have arisen.

Each group will have 10 minutes to do the poster presentation. Posters should contain the following information:

-Poster Title and authors

-Map of the area

-Type of boundary (convergent, divergent, transform) or Hot Spot

-Brief explanation (Mention the plates that are interacting and what happens at that boundary)

-Related piece of news (earthquake, tsunami or volcanic activity in the area)

Project: In groups of 3, you will prepare a Power Point presentation (10-15 slides) on the different theories related to the origin of life and evolution.

Your presentation should contain the following information:

  • Include a brief biography of the main representative supporting this theory
  • Place the theory in its historical context
  • Explain the main thesis of the theory
  • Give examples to illustrate the theory
  • Express your opinion

Exam date 4th February 2016.

The exam will have two parts:

  • Part 1 (8 points) consists of 20 multiple choice questions on structure of DNA, transcription and translation, meiosis and Mendel Laws.
  • Part 2 consists of two questions (1 point each): In the first question you will have to talk about one of the proteins seen in class. In the second question you will have to transcribe a given DNA sequence and translate it into the corresponding aminoacid sequence using the genetic code.

The exam will have two parts:

  • Part 1 (8 points) consists of 20 multiple choice questions on structure of DNA, transcription and translation, meiosis, Mendel Laws, Genetic Disorders and Genetics Applications.
